Who would ever think that an ice cream spot off the highway in New Brighton would ever have such good tacos?? Not only are the tacos delicious but the frozen custard is to die for. Always good and fast service here. I recommend the taco value pack for anyone. 3 tacos and a drink for a pretty fair price.

Fudge boats are awesome but the 99 cent charge for using your debit card to pay and basically take money from an ATM is shameful so he doesn't have to pay the fee to the card companies. Yes I know I could bring cash but that means going to a different ATM to get money and sometimes there's a surcharge if it's not your bank. Come one man it's 2015!!!!!

Portions are huge. If you are looking for a large, get a medium! As much as I love Handels, this takes the cake.

I love hanks the tacos are amazing and they also have really good frozen custard. The prices are awesome too for $5 you can get the 3 taco meal which is 3 tacos and a drink you really can't beat that. I also really like their pretzel cones and the plain chocolate custard. The only problem is that when they get really busy you can end up waiting a long time for your food but it's worth it!

Hanks holds a lot of nostalgia for people who live in Beaver County. Its frozen custard and its tacos, a prefect combination of food that's enjoyable for lunch, dinner, or just dessert! They offer a wide variety of gourmet frozen custard, sugar free options and special flavors served on certain days. Monday: Pistachio Tuesday: Orange Pineapple Wednesday: Peanut Butter Thursday: Banana Friday: Strawberry Saturday: Dreamcicle Sunday: Black Raspberry My favorite is the pistachio and you will often find me here every other Monday getting pistachio frozen custard! It is simply delicious. As for the service, some the employees could be more enthusiastic. I also wish there was indoor seating rater than all outside and under a pavilion. The trash cans outside can stink very badly and it ruins the overall experience sometimes. I was always told that they only take cash, however, I see from a previous review that they can take cards, but it was a difficult experience. For those reasons, I give Hanks a 3 star. I am kind of ashamed of that rating because I do love this place. It is definitely try if you are in the area.

I recently read a review about Hank's mentioning that this place carries a lot of nostalgia for those who grew up in the area. As being not native myself, I've heard wonderful things about the frozen custard and tacos. More specifically, about pistachio (my favorite ice cream) Monday's! The reviews from locals rave about the astounding flavors and quality ingredients that you'll find here at Hank's. For this reason, I almost feel bad giving it 3 stars. I do enjoy heading out and supporting this local establishment, but I do not do it for the flavor. If you have some good weather and want to wind down at the end of a long day, there is nothing sweeter then grabbing a cone from Hank's, popping a squat on a picnic table, and spend a little quality time with the one's you love.

Most bland custard I've ever had. Rocky road had NO chocolate flavor! Nuts and marshmallows were in it but couldn't taste the marshmallows. My two dogs wouldn't even eat it! Had a bite of my wife's vanilla, same result. Oh, and they serve great Mexican food! Yah, right! This is a cushiony gathering place for locals to get together, show of their cars and get a very bland meal (common for this area) with some custard for dessert. If you're from a place where you like lots of flavor (the south, new england, NYC area) you can skip this place.

Hank's Frozen Custard/Cheap Mexican Spot/Paint Easel Decorated Oddity. All around just kind of a weird place. I'm not from this area but understand that it holds a lot of nostalgia for many that grew up around it. Ive eaten here a handful of times and mostly everything is OKAY, but none of it what i would really consider "good". They have quite a selection to choose from but may benefit from paring down their menu and focusing on improving the items they offer. Most recently I had one of their taco salads for the 2nd time. While it was an improvement over the first time I had one and was well priced for the size, I still wasn't blown away. The salad comes with enough cheese to clog the arteries and I took over half of it off. It comes with olives and peppers which I passed on. It gives you two taco shells on the side to work into your salad as you choose. I ordered chicken tenders as well, and they were not very good at all. The accompanying ranch was HORRIBLE. If there's one thing I don't understand, its messing up ranch dressing. Ugh. The custard is good from what I can recall, and I'm guessing that's what most people would be coming here for. Overall, this is a spot I'd come to for a quick affordable snack, but I wont be recommending it to anyone unless they are dying for a custard. Oh, and one more thing; they expect you to pay with cash or pay a fee. Get with the times as that's a bit ridiculous in this day and age.

I am from Calif so i know what real mexican food made by mexicans taste like. The mexican food is a B- to a C+ , its ok by pennsylvania standards. The yogurt is great. They have other food too. Super crowded during summer especially nights/weekends.

Mexican food and cold treats: a combo that makes total sense once you've had them together at Hank's. This is a pure Pittsburgh-area food cocktail. The Mexican food isn't authentic, really, but who cares? It's a million times better than Taco Bell, and it's dirt-cheap. The meat is fresh, and there are quite a few options. It's sleazy in the best possible use of the word. The frozen custard and ice cream are delicious, generous in portion, and shockingly inexpensive. While Hank's is never going to have a thousand flavors on hand, there are well over a dozen ways to get the dessert flavors. I love their plain cones, but also love the Hank's Icee and various milk shakes (the "thick" shakes are like drinking a gallon of ice cream--recommended if you have the fortitude). The folks working there--both young and old--are always friendly and quick. There's also a fantastic community element while waiting in line; strangers chat and laugh at jokes, kids play with each other, and folks eating on the picnic tables gawk at each other's grub. Other weird bits: cash only, unless you want a charge on your debit card; outdoor-only seating; and what's up with the paint-related signage? Still, this place is the best. Go forth and enjoy.

AVOID Good food and custard. But horrible service. You have to pay a dollar to use a credit card. Debit, you have to pay .99 and then get change for a twenty. Asked the girl and she said that the owner wants the customers to pay instead of him. Shameful. This guys makes money hand over fist. He is Scrooge. Squeezes every penny.

Best frozen custard ever. Many memories and always a pit stop when we come to beaver falls, pa. With that being said, this is actually a frozen custard eatery on one side and then they sell Mexican food on the other side. I have never tried their Mexican food because when I come to Hank's, I have one thing on the brain and that is custard. It is always smooth, creamy and delicious. And as much as I love this place, I can never order anything larger than a medium. A medium is a like a extra large. The portions are extra huge compared to many other places I have been to. Growing up, when we would visit Pennsylvania they wouldn't always be open, because they were only open in the summer. Luckily now, they have been open year round for a while. I don't get to visit PA that often so when I do, it is always a treat to come here. When I lived closer in D.C., I would always take home some deep freeze frozen custard so I could enjoy it at home. I wish I wasn't so far away to where I could still do that now. I hands down love the banana flavor, whenever I get the chance to visit and they have it, I get it. It is just too delicious. The caramel sauce they use is the perfect balance of sweet and salty if you choose to get a Sundae. I just love this place. I wish they had one here in Las Vegas. Or maybe I just need to move back east. Note that if you use your debit card, they run it as a atm. So you have to do at least $30 and then they give you the change back. So it is easier to come with cash.

AMAZING food. Just make sure you are super clear about every single thing you want on your order. I got a veggie quesadilla and asked them to add banana peppers to it assuming that veggie would be some mix of vegetables. I got cheese and banana peppers... That's it LOL!

I love Hanks! This was my first job 8 years ago plus i lived within walking distance my entire life so i was here often. My go-to would be the chicken, cheese & fries. So unhealthy but so soo good. I love their tacos and often compare others to Hanks (as in Hanks is better) The waffle boat sundae is delish. I like getting a kids meal.. taco, fries, small drink + baby scoop of ice cream. Fills me up just fine. I get the best of all worlds.

So my mother send me some photos of her and my family devouring this ice cream ecstasy. And got me thinking.... I never reviewed this place. Then got me thinking... I would kill for a scoop... or 3. Look at all the reviews. All 5*s man! That's telling you something. I grew up near this ice cream stand... and me and my family came here religiously once per week. And why??? Because it's the best ice cream in the world. It's not frozen milk slush poo... it's frozen custard. I haven't a clue why you don't see frozen custard everywhere... cause it's the best. I think Hanks should go global. So I can enjoy it everywhere... not just when I come home for a visit. Lets sign a petition, take it to congress, take it to the president. Hanks for global locations. Pass it on!

Very good banana splits. They keep me returning all summer. The food is great as well.

Excellent frozen custard, black raspberry is my favorite (made fresh Sundays). The Mexican food is not authentic but very good, love the taco salad w nacho cheese added and the taco burger w medium sauce. Cool place to bring the kids & dog. Eat outside only, no indoor option.

Haven't been to Hank's in many years but I remember their custard as being the BEST - better than Glen's in Springdale AND their beef and cheese burritos are to die for. Gotta get back there.

I will drive in from the city for ice cream and tacos! This place is delicious. I cannot recommend it more. Their taco sauce doesn't have tomatoes in which I'm a fan of. You can have dinner, dessert and a drink for under 10 bucks. You won't be sorry eating here. Totally worth the wait!.

Oh man, I sure do miss Hanks! I am salavating right now just thinking about their banana ice cream. Well, frozen custard. SOOOO good! I haven't had it in years. I can still picture the sign and looking for the flavor of the day as a kid. I really need to make a trip back here (all the way from Los Angeles) just to get some! There's nothing like it!

Simply the best tacos I've ever eaten, ever. El scorcho!!! Custard, smooth, flavorful, delicious - nothing better than this. Takes me back to 1981 when I used to skip study hall and go on a taco run. Or before I even drove a car, in 1979 or 1980, riding my bike down Junction Stretch to get to Hank's original stand - behind the Grant's store. And it's still good today!!!! Does time stand still? It does at Hank's.

Hanks is a Beaver County staple that has been around since my parents were small children. The eclectic mix of Mexican food and frozen custard may sound odd but strangely it works. Is this the best Mexican food you'll get? No. But is it reasonably priced, pretty good and also make you enjoy a milkshake or custard dessert even more? Absolutely.

I doubt many people in Beaver County use Yelp but I have to give Hank's a review. Every time I go back home I make sure to stop here. I don't know what it is about their tacos but the meat, the cheese, the tomatoes, they all taste better on Hank's tacos, wrapped in the neat little foil wrappers. The milkshakes are amazing too with lots of different flavors. Peanut butter and root beer are highly recommended.

Not really a fan of Hank's. Have never been impressed with the ice cream/custard. The only reason why it didn't get one star is because I heard the food is good but I haven't tried it.

Cheap, but delicious food. What can be better? Oh, that's right. Frozen custard and cheap delicious food. Hank's is the place for that!

THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. Different flavor for every day of the week! Monday is pistachio and thursday is banana...MY FAVORITES OF COURSE! This place has a timeless spot in my heart. I can remember going there as a little kid. And the best part is..they don't just do frozen custard...they serve mexican food too! It's perfect! Get a burrito, chalupa, nachos, frijoles..you name it! Then polish it off with a perfect, creamy, home made, slow churned, frozen custard yummmmm!

Note #1-Hank's is apparently open for the year. You can refer to their Facebook page to keep up with their goings-on, including when they open up and close down for the year... facebook.com/pages/Hanks… Note#2-I changed the address to 2210 3rd Avenue. You can't really get to Hank's lot via the highway. All you'll see is the back of the restaurant as you drive by. Yes, it's a little confusing. Mapquest and GPS are your allies here. Note #3-It's all take-out and outdoor dining at Hank's. If you choose to eat at the Hank's site, you can do so at a picnic bench or in your car. Note #4-They accept cards, but I strongly recommend using cash as they treat debit card payments as ATM transactions. You'll get charged $1.47 and will have to take cash back in order to settle up. Just avoid all that and bring some greenbacks if you can. Besides, the food's criminally affordable. In a small, drowsy borough with a population of less than 7,000, you will find some choice Mexican fare along with gyros, pierogi, kielbasa, Philly cheese steaks, burgers, fried soft pretzels, frozen custard, and shaved ice. No we were not in California. Western Pennsylvania. Let that stew for a spell. Kay rolled her eyes as I ordered a taco, a burrito, AND a cheeseburger during our first visit. Hey, it was all in the name of Yelp, y'know, and this is pocket-sized, dirt-cheap cuisine that doesn't skimp much on quality. That red, seasoned meat was deeply flavored, sticking to the insides of the stomach, the tortillas slightly damp and doughy, the veggies crunchy, reminding you that they exist and have a say in the affair, the beans causing me to reconsider my aversion to them, the jack makin' my lips smack. Authenticity is something I no longer care about. Hank's has officially made the subject moot. Also worthy was the burger/fries combo. Hank's purports to grind their burger meat daily, and one could taste that. The soft sesame-seed bun, generous mayo and diced (for the Mexican items) tomato and onions only embellished a burger that any other big fast-food franchise would murder innocents to unlock the secrets of. What cuts of meat are used? Ratios? Hank's will never tell. As for the fries, someone's wise to the peanut-oil method, and Hank's is a devotee of it. The fries had an almost feathery interior, the like I've never quite encountered before. My eyes were so much bigger than my stomach, I had to come back the following day to try the frozen custard for fear of another Burgatory incident. As I poked my head in through the window, I gazed at and was briefly entranced by the metallic sheen of the custard-making appliances, their design awakening the spirit of Fritz Lang, foreshadowing rare dairy delights. A Fudge Boat gets you an ebony/ivory duet of enormous, soft chocolate and vanilla custard globes drowned in hot fudge, sliced bananas strewn all over the scene, a heavenly whipped cream cloud looking on from above, pecans (75 cents extra) making an already godly sundae all the godlier. Rita's, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, Wendy's, and Burger King have all been been felled by a lone swing of the axe.

Hanks is awesome. I've been going there for over 25 years. The frozen custard is by far the best in the area. The fact that you can get a good burrito and nachos too is an extra bonus. If you are expecting upscale or fancy mexican then you are in the wrong place. This is where you go to get regular burritos and tacos. Think Taco Bell but better / real taste.

What a wonderful spot. A local legend, and well deserved. Very popular spot. The parking lot is very large, and it needs to be. Very adequate covered outdoor seating. The ice cream is amazing! A lot of choices. They also serve soft serve custard in two flovors. The unique concoctions include several flavors of sugar free ice cream. I did not have any sugar free, but took note of it, as it's quite unique. Locals have been going there for years. Prices are quite reasonable, especially for the high quality they serve. This is a very high volume stand, with window service. They have it down to a science, and handle multiple orders flawlessly and very quickly. be sure to have cash, they take debit cards, but there is a nominal charge for that. This spot is well worth the experience, especially for youngsters, so they can see americana in person. Us old folks enjoy the nostalgia effect. GREAT SPOT!

Price matches the quality So on the topic of quality; ie the tacos, I wouldn't recommend. I've never had chicken textured quite that way, which leads me to question "is it . Very much akin to a del taco or Taco Bell taco and very nearly the price. So if you want something fast, cheap and unassuming, you'be got options. Custard is ok, flavors are fun and the prices reflect it. I wish I would have gotten a kids, not a small it was too much for me.
